Hi, My name is Amanda. I am an Automatic Driving Instructor with over 12 years experience, covering Paisley, Renfrew, Barrhead and Neilston and some surrounding areas.
My pupils have previously shared with me that I am calm, patient, and non judgmental. I am very passionate about teaching people to drive safely in life, not just to pass a driving test.Â

"Learning to drive at 38, after putting it off for nearly 20 years, felt like a daunting challenge - but Amanda completely transformed the experience. From the very first lesson, her patience was truly exceptional. No matter how many times I needed something explained, she always took the time to break things down clearly and in depth, making sure I fully understood and felt confident. What really sets Amanda apart is her consistently positive attitude. She’s always cheerful, encouraging, and calm, which makes such a difference when you’re nervous or unsure. She created an environment where I never felt judged - only supported. Driving isn’t something I naturally enjoy, but Amanda somehow made every lesson feel relaxed and genuinely pleasant. Thanks to her, what I once dreaded became something I could approach with confidence and even enjoyment. I couldn’t recommend Amanda highly enough to anyone - especially if, like me, you’ve been putting it off for years. She’s an incredible instructor and made all the difference in my journey."
Ultimately, helping the pupil to achieve their goals. I can recall my own very first driving lesson and knowing I was totally out my depth and I vowed that I would never allow any of my pupils feel the way i did, albeit 30+ years ago.
It is the best feeling to see when the penny drops and when pupils share that they have a clear understanding and then able to implement this into the skills they are learning.
Nerves can be inevitable behind the wheel and seeing these nerves leave my pupils, when they feel comfortable, knowledgeable and skillful to be able to drive independently.Â

What do you like to do when you're not working?
As I am sitting in the car in a daily basis, I feel it is important to make myself move when I am out of the car. I enjoy the gym, to get my steps in, and keep fit classes.
I also love eating out and a relaxing spa day. (recommendations always welcome. đź¤) Â
When I really switch off, you will usually find me on a cruise ship or on a sun lounger by the pool with a good book.
One interesting fact about you...
In 2026, I have successfully completed the Bright Coaching Professional Diploma in Coaching and Behavioural Change for Safe Driving. This has allowed me to be one of the first Driving Instructors in the UK to achieve this qualification, as I feel it is important that I continue my learning to ensure my pupils are getting the best service and help to understand themselves as a driver.
"Honestly cannot recommend Amanda at Caledonian enough. After nearly 6 years of lessons and thinking I would never pass my test, I contacted Amanda as my theory was going to expire in 3 months time and I was also expecting my baby girl in October. I thought this was my absolute last shot at driving. In those 3 months Amanda gave me confidence and eased all my anxieties about driving after having traumatic experiences with other instructors and I managed to pass my test first time before my baby girl arrived. She is so patient, calm and understanding, I couldn’t have done it without her and will miss our weekly catch ups. Thank you so much Amanda!"
