Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Craig Forsyth and I am a PDI training with Caledonian Driver Training, working in and around the Lanarkshire area. I decided to become a driving instructor after many years on the road, to share my experience and support new drivers. I find it really rewarding to help people build the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed.

Following my research and conversations with a number of driving schools, meeting Stewart Lochrie gave me an instant feeling that Caledonian was the right fit for me. I really valued the sense of community, along with the support, training, and opportunities available.

Not long after joining Caledonian, I was introduced to my Training Manager, Andy McFarlane, who gave me instant support and regular 1-1 training. His experience, advice, and commitment to my development as a PDI really helped build my confidence and skills. Caledonian also runs regular online meetings, face-to-face CPD sessions, and social events, creating a strong sense of community among like-minded people.

What is the best advice you could give your learners?

My best advice to learner drivers is to remember that everyone makes mistakes.  What matters is how you recover, and staying calm keeps you in control.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

Outside of work, I keep busy taking my two sons to football training and weekend matches. I enjoy staying active at the gym, going on long walks with my dog, and making the most of time with family and friends.

One interesting fact about you...

An interesting fact about me is that before becoming a driving instructor, I’ve been on the road since leaving school as a lorry driver, with strong road safety knowledge and a great sense of direction - my own built-in Sat Nav!
