Who are you and what do you do?
I’m James O’Reilly and I am an ADI and Training Manager with Caledonian DT. I’ve been qualified since 2023 and I have a background in hospitality management.
I’ve completed over 100 hours of CPD with many of the top trainers in the UK, with more planned in for the future. I am due to complete a Professional Diploma in Coaching and Behavioural Change with Bright Coaching.

What is the best thing about being a driving instructor?
The best thing about being a Driving Instructor is helping people to achieve their goals, become safe and independent drivers, and get over all the anxiety that comes with driving.
The best thing about coaching PDIs is seeing that big smile when they start to get it and implement everything into their lessons.
What is the best advice you could give your learners?
My advice to students is don’t focus on the test, think about after the test when you driving family and friends around. How do you want them to feel in the car?
My advice to PDIs is always think about the Part 3 test right from the beginning of your learning journey; how are you going to implement all the learning into small chunks for your pupils?
What do you like to do when you're not working?
When I’m not working, I love to spend time with family and friends, watch and play football and go to the gym. I love music, especially Rock, both listening to it and playing it on the guitar.
One interesting fact about you...
 I love anything to do with Martial Arts, particularly Karate where I hold a Shodan belt (black belt)!
