Who are you and what do you do?
Hi I am Jim Hawker, an Approved Driving Instructor with Caledonian DT. I am very patient, calm, flexible, reliable and professional. I feel that I can bring out the best in even the most anxious of learners. I offer lessons throughout all of the day and that includes evenings and weekends. The main areas I cover are in the Southside of Glasgow - Mount Florida, Muirend, Newton Mearns, Shawlands & Giffnock. I am also happy to travel a little further if required.Â

What is the best thing about being a driving instructor?
The best thing about being a driving instructor is that I get to help people gain a life skill. You take your students on a journey from struggling to get the car to move to a beaming smile holding a pass certificate.
What is the best advice you could give your learners?
Best advice I can give students is to spend quality time on self reflection, focusing on both your strengths and opportunities. Always remember, safety first at all times and quality practice is better than quantity.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My wife and I enjoy travelling and are always keen to try new places. I am also a keen follower of sport but sadly it is now more watching rather than playing. The one sport I still actively play is golf. I have been a category one golfer for more than 30 years.
One interesting fact about you...
 My lovely wife bought me a bucket list game of golf on the Old Course in St Andrews and I birdied the 18th hole!
